An action group formed to stop the logging of West Coast native forests by Timberlands West Coast. The New Zealand Arboricultural Association represents arborists throughout New Zealand. In 1996 it formed a Chapter with the International Society of Arboriculture. The NZFOA is dedicated to the promotion and strategic positioning of commercial plantation forestry, and in particular of New Zealand radiata pine. It has eight specialist working committees.
