- Centre for the Contemporary Pacific
In the context of the Centre's activities, 'the Pacific' refers to Papua New Guinea and the other islands states and territories of Melanesia, Polynesia and Micronesia, with particular emphasis on the Southwest Pacific region. The term 'contemporary' is broadly understood to include history and prehistory. In addition to information about the Centre, the site includes the online newsletter Talanoa and links to related sites.

The Hōkūle`a, Hawaii's first traditional voyaging canoe and symbol of native Hawaiian resurgence, sets sail for Rapa Nui (Easter Island). This last sail of the century will complete the triangle of ancient migration routes the Hawaiians have retraced through the Pacific. The page, part of the Honolulu star-bulletin web site, describes and then illustrates the way the Hōkūle`a and crew attempts to recreate the voyages of the first Polynesians. PacificGenWeb, part of the WorldGenWeb project, seeks to link the genealogical and historical resources of all Pacific countries, territories and states together. The aim of the project is to provide transcriptions and other items of research significance to the public via the Internet, free of charge. The site is divided into four areas: Australia, Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia.

- Polynesian Voyaging Society
The Society's aim is to research how Polynesian seafarers discovered and settled nearly every inhabitable island in the Pacific Ocean before European explorers arrived in the 16th century. Since 1975, PVS has built and launched two replicas of ancient canoes--Hokule'a and Hawai'iloa--and completed six voyages to the South Pacific to retrace migration routes and recover traditional canoe-building and wayfinding (non-instrument navigation) arts. The web site includes bibliographies on: Polynesian migration and voyaging, and recent voyages to Tahiti, Aotearoa, Rarotonga, Marquesas, Rapanui, British Columbia and Alaska.
