James 'Rube' Garrett was a Corporal, Ammo Chief for I Battery, 3rd Battalion, 11th Regiment and a charter member of the 1st Marine Division. His diary tells his story of the Battle of Guadalcanal. The diary was transcribed by Jim Garrett, with some additional material written in November 1995.
